First Team Manager Reviews Pre Season….

Our Ladies First Team Manager Billy Highton is pleased with the progress made in pre season as he prepares his squad for the forthcoming season.

“We can’t wait for the season to start now. Pre season has been longer than usual and we have seen yet another influx of new players into our senior set up this year which is fantastic news for this club. We have lost a couple of players from last season first team squad, one of which has signed for a championship side and whilst we were absolutely delighted for her move, we are also delighted that every other player from last season squad has re-signed this season in addition to adding some new talent which we are really excited about”.

The team have also welcomed 2 new additions to the coaching staff. Lee Hayes was previously at Brighton & Hove Albion Women and Ian Hart also joins us who is currently Head of Youth Development at Southend United FC. Billy says “I am absolutely delighted we have attracted both Lee and Ian to the club. They have a wealth of experience and knowledge of the game which is second to none and can only benefit the team moving forward”.

With the season only two weeks away, the Ladies enter into the final pre season game at home to Fulham on Sunday 6th September. Billy says “Fulham will present us with yet another challenge this weekend as we look to prepare our squad for our first league game. We have mixed the squad around a lot during pre season as you would expect with many trialist being involved at the outset and trying some players in varying positions, but we feel now we are getting a more settled squad with less changes being made of late which we are now starting to see the benefit of, particular in our in last two games against Premier opposition”.

Kerrie Marlborough Vacates Reserve Team Manager Role.

After a very successful first season in charge of the ladies Reserves Team, Kerrie has decided to vacate the role for personal reasons.

Since retiring from playing due to injury and representing the club for 20 years, Kerrie took over the role of Reserve Team Manager at the start of the 2020-2021 season and led the team to an unbeaten league winning season only for the League results to be expunged following the COVID-19 outbreak.

Kerrie will continue to support the newly appointed manager Kyle Hellina as well as all other coaches within the club in her new role as an Assistant Club Development Coach.

New Ladies Reserve Manager

We welcome Kyle Hellina as Reserve Team Manager for the 2020-2021 Season.

Kyle takes over from Kerrie Marlborough who led the team to an unbeaten league winning season before the lockdown caused the season to be expunged.

Kyle has been a member of the First Team coaching staff since 2018 and is currently studying for his Uefa B licence and this was seen as a natural progression when the vacancy became available. He will be assisted by Roger Brown.
